Ask Yourself “How Are You?”

In Yoga and Ayurveda, the greatest emphasis is not put on giving herbal recommendations and prescriptions but to steer people towards an Ayurvedic lifestyle. Being able to discern what food you take in, what impressions you take in from y our environment, how you put yourself in situations, how you get yourself out of situations, where you live, how you keep your house and what aspects you pay attention to in life determines your health and wellbeing. Its not about magical cures or medicine.

I strongly believe that there is a plant or combinations of plants for every disease humans and animals have that can cure all that we ail from. That is a gift given to us. Taking medicine while living an unhealthy life is not recommended because first and foremost, you must take responsibility for your own well being. Its not about living precariously and expect medicine to cure it all when the body becomes too weak to handle it all.

Self inspection on a daily basis can help with the prevention of many conditions or catalysts to diseases. This is about developing a relationship with yourself and asking yourself about how you feel. We always ask others “how are you” when we meet them but did we ever ask ourselves that question. We take it as our needs are to be pushed aside or repressed because society says to suck it up. We need to ask ourselves each and every day about how we feel, what we need and what can we do to make our life better. Life is not as we get it. It can be made better and more joyful. The point of life is to make it better each day by learning lessons and rising above trials and tribulations.

Being an adult and thinking “just deal with it!” actually creates a barrier to the emotions, creating blocks as we run away from problems instead of addressing them. So after a few years we have a pile of problems that we swept under the rug that we can’t hide any longer. More we feel the stress and pain the more we shut off feelings to go on with life. Before long our baggage become too heavy and our body is too worn when health takes a toll. Learning to take care of yourself is part of loving yourself enough to make sure you are healthy in order to prevent diseases. Its our primary right to a healthy life with a healthy body, mind and emotions.

Take five minutes to inquire about your feelings each morning. Find out if there are issues that are bothering you. How can you find solutions or make things better. This caters to your well being because it actually nurtures a relationship with yourself. Any hidden or pushed aside emotions or experiences can be addressed this way and healed leading to a healthier mental state. Emotional health and mental health is mandatory for long life and health. Clearly know your tipping points and strive to create experiences that brings happiness and joy.

If something is causing you any negative feelings, look within and ask yourself what exactly is upsetting you. What action or aspects of that situation that makes you feel upset or goes against what you believe. Say out loud that you want to heal from this situation by putting your hand on your heart. Make an intention to process the experience in your mind and allow it to be digested. Ask what is the lesson that needs to be learned so that you can heal, make the changes, complete the lesson and move on. This gives peace to your inner being.

To keep it within and allowing it to fester is what causes stress and anxiety, leading to health deterioration. Digesting experiences can allow us to find the true meaning behind that experience and learn from it. Inability to learn a lesson and not moving on is to be stuck in a karmic cycle that keeps repeating. Think about situations that keeps repeating in your life. End the bad cycles by coming fully to personal power and learning from it.
